CLINICAL FELLOWSHIPS |

Pulmonary Pathology The University of Chicago Department of Pathology offers a one- or two-year fellowship in surgical pathology with opportunities for either clinical or translational research. The fellowship offers training in an academic, tertiary care center receiving 27,000 cases annually. The diagnostic material includes specimens from most fields of pathology with a relatively high proportion of gastro-intestinal, liver, gynecologic, bone & soft tissue, breast, urologic and head and neck cases. Large numbers of specimens are also received for consultant opinions. The University of Chicago is an active transplant center. The fellow practices surgical pathology in an academic setting, participates in the daily diagnostic sign-out and handles a portion of consultation material. The fellow also presents cases at various clinico-pathologic conferences and assumes some responsibility for teaching of residents and medical students. We offer an active basic scientific, translational and clinicopathologic research program. The optional second year of training may be devoted entirely to laboratory investigation. Research training is tailored to each fellow. |
Requirements A minimum of three years' training in anatomic pathology or four years' training that combines anatomic and clinical pathology. The candidate must be able to obtain an Illinois medical license. Stipend Commensurate with level of training.
